Ombudsmen
Feridun ÖNSAV (2. Ombudsman) Feridun Önsav was born in İstinco (Tabanlı) village of Paphos on February 27th, 1947. Studied law at İstanbul University, he graduated in June 1975 from the Law Faculty.
While studying in İstanbul, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus Turkish National Students Federation and later in Cyprus, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus Turkish Jurists Association.
Having completed his internship in Cyprus, he continued his proffession as an advocate until 1985 when he was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Republican Turkish Party for five years.
Despite his election as Member of Parliament in 1990 from Democratic Struggle Party ( A coalition of three parties including Republican Turkish Party), in accordance with the decision of his Party to boycott, he refused to enter into the Parliament. In the early general elections of 1993, he was again elected as a Member of Parliament from Republican Turkish Party for five years.
In March 2004 he was appointed by the Council of Ministers as Chairman of the Council of Housing and he performed his duty till he was appointed as the TRNC Ombudsman on November 17th, 2006.
From 1992 to 2007 he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees of the Naci Talat Foundation.
Feridun Önsav is married and has two daughters.

| Nail ATALAY (1. Ombudsman) Mr. Nail Atalay, the former Auditor-General for 12 years, resumed his duties as the OMBUDSMAN of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on 16 January 1997 and retired on 30 April 2002.
Mr. Atalay received his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Wayne State University, Michigan, USA. He has had a distinguished career in civil service, serving as Director of Political Affairs in the Office of the Vice-President of the Republic of Cyprus; Administrative Secretary for the Ministry of Education; Associate Director of the Food Supplies and Distribution Department of the Turkish Communal Chamber of Nicosia and as a teacher at the elementary, high school and college level.
While attending Wayne State University (1969-1971), Mr. Atalay served as a teaching assistant in the Political Science Department and as Assistant to the Director of Mid-Career Education and Executive Development Programmes for the State of Michigan at Wayne State University.
While carrying out his executive responsibilities, Mr. Atalay has also served on the Central Tender Board (Turkish) in Nicosia and has been a part-time instructor in accounting and commercial law at the Haydarpasha Commercial Lycee. He is a founding member of the International Society of Political Psychology, has served as Chairman of the Middle East Technical University Graduates Association and been the Chairman of the Board of Auditors of the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey.
Mr. Atalay was the representative of his country at the United Nations and represented the Turkish Cypriot side at various international conferences from 1974 to 1985.
Mr. Atalay is married and has a son.
